Bronxville Company "Project Hot Sauce" is a Labor of Love

Nov. 13, 2024: Dave Phillips, a Bronxville local with a knack for both music and entrepreneurial endeavors, has spent years cultivating a community-focused lifestyle.

Known to theatergoers as "the bassist" for the popular Broadway musical The Book of Mormon, Phillips’ life extends far beyond the stage. His journey is rooted in Bronxville’s sense of community, where he combines his artistic talent with a drive to give back and a passion for local, sustainable food production.

Phillips’ Bronxville journey began in earnest in 2017 when he had the vision of the Bronxville Giving Garden, a community initiative that promotes food security and sustainable gardening. The garden provides fresh produce to families in need, supplying local food banks and educating residents about sustainability.

It was here that Phillips, already dedicated to using his talents for a positive cause, found a deeper connection to the Bronxville community and an inspiration for his next big project: Project Hot Sauce.

Project Hot Sauce, Phillips’ latest venture, is more than a business—it’s a labor of love. After starting the company in Los Angeles during the pandemic, he has recently moved the company to Bronxville.

This harvest season he has partnered with Hidden Acre Farm who holds a stand down at the Bronxville Farmers Market which allowed him to not only procure the freshest produce but also to supply the farmer with secondary products that they can see to their customers.

An exciting feature of Project Hot Sauce is its Bronxville-based production which takes place at Christ Church in Bronxville! Many thanks to the amazing Father Kurt and Ian Kinman who takes great care of all their operations.

Phillips’ transition from the stage to the kitchen highlights his versatility as both an artist and an entrepreneur. While his night job involves playing bass in one of Broadway’s most popular shows, his days are making chili infused products and tending to the giving garden.

Phillips brings the same dedication to Project Hot Sauce as he does to his music, ensuring that every bottle reflects his personal touch.

With its local roots and dedication to quality, Project Hot Sauce has quickly earned a loyal following among Bronxville residents and promises to make waves beyond its local borders.

For Phillips, Project Hot Sauce is an extension of his passion for creativity and community service. His journey from the Bronxville Giving Garden to his new venture demonstrates how he is using his skills to bring people together and make a difference. Through his dedication to both the arts and community projects, Dave Phillips embodies a modern, community-minded approach to business, one hot sauce bottle at a time.
