Oct. 21, 2015: The Bronco football team will head to the quarterfinal round of the Class B playoffs after a solid 27-8 win against undefeated Valhalla last Saturday. The Vikings scored first to take an 8-0 lead, but on the next Bronco possession a play action pass by Brian DePaul to Sam Connors put the Broncos on the board. The two-point conversion from DePaul to Jeffrey Sargent tied the score 8-8. The Bronco defense held the Vikings scoreless for the remainder of the game, and Bronxville scored three more times with Anthony Napolitano rushing for over 200 yards.
The No. 6 Broncos will play No. 3 Westlake in the quarterfinal round this coming Saturday at Westlake at 2:30 pm. These two teams did not meet during the regular season.
Both the boys' and girls' cross country teams won their respective league championships last week. Sean Ryan took the top spot for the boys' race, and Kaitlin Ryan won the girls' race. It was the second year in a row that this sibling combo was victorious. The Westchester County Championships will be next Sunday at Woodlands High School.
Playoffs for girls' and boys' soccer teams will start this week. The boys ended their regular season with a 2-1 win over Sleepy Hollow, bringing their record to 14-2. They are currently ranked second in Class B behind Valhalla (14-1-1). Bronxville lost to Valhalla early in the season in the Broncofest championship game. The Broncos will play No. 15 Dobbs Ferry at 3:00 pm on Friday at Chambers Field. The quarterfinal round will take place at the higher seed on Monday.
In its final game of the regular season, the girls' soccer team defeated Briarcliff 3-1, bringing its record to 11-3-1. The No. 3-seeded Broncos will play No. 14 Edgemont on Saturday at Chambers Field.
Field hockey ended its season with a tie against Class AA Horace Greeley last week to finish the season with an 11-3-1 record. The No. 2 Broncos will have a bye in the first round and will play No. 7 Irvington at home on Saturday at 3:45 pm.
The girls' tennis conferences were held last week, and two Bronxville doubles teams will now move on to sectionals. Caroline Schetlick and Christina Brumbaugh placed 2nd in the conference doubles tournament, with a three-set win over Rye Neck, and middle-schoolers Katharine Forst and Eva Dani placed 6th. The sectional championships will take place this week.
The Bronxville/Tuckahoe girls' swim team finished with a win against Suffern last Friday and will compete at the Conference 2 league meet on Saturday at 2:00 pm at White Plains High School.
