June 3, 2026: The Bronxville boys’ and girls’ lacrosse teams have both put together impressive postseason runs. The boys’ team captured the Class D Section 1 Championship with a victory over Pleasantville on Tuesday, while the girls will have their chance at a title when they face Pleasantville in the championship game tonight. Both teams entered the postseason battle-tested after playing some of the toughest schedules in Section 1 during the regular season.
Although the Broncos compete in Class D during the playoffs, both teams played against many of the top programs in Section 1 regardless of classification. As a result, neither team’s record tells the full story.
The boys finished the regular season 10-6 and earned the No. 2 seed in the Class D playoffs behind Pleasantville. Along the way, they faced some of Section 1’s premier programs, including Class A Mamaroneck, Class B Yorktown, and Class C Rye.
The girls entered the playoffs with a 5-8 record, but also played one of the section’s most challenging schedules. Their opponents included top-seeded teams such as Class A Suffern, Class B Rye, and Class C Nyack.
“The whole team is super excited for our section final because it's our chance to show everyone what we're capable of,” said senior captain Charlotte Murray. “We had a tough start to our season, but I think we've really pulled it together.”

After an 11-8 regular-season loss to Pleasantville, Bronxville entered the playoffs determined to repeat as the Class D Champion. The Broncos accomplished that goal with a convincing 14-6 win over the Panthers yesterday. Bronxville will now advance to regionals against Section 9 champion Rondout Valley.
The rivalry between Bronxville and Pleasantville has defined Class D lacrosse in recent years. The two programs have now met in the Section 1 Championship game four consecutive years. The Panthers claimed title in 2023 and 2024, while the Broncos have now won back-to-back championships in 2025 and 2026.
The Broncos opened the postseason with a 17-2 victory over No. 7 Valhalla before defeating No. 3 Irvington, 16-8, in the semifinals. In that game, Bronxville built a commanding 12-3 halftime lead and never looked back.
Leading the offense against Irvington were Nick Martinelli (2G, 4A), Chase Bacigalupo (4G), Theo McMurray (3G, 1A), Thomas Freeman (2G, 2A), Patrick Plunkett (2G, 1A) Brian Formato (1G, 2A), Trevor Valente (2G), Brady Dolan (2A), Harry Bacigalupo (1A). Landon Hamerling had six saves in goal.

The Bronxville girls entered the postseason as the No. 7 seed but quickly proved they were better than their record suggested.
The Broncos opened sectionals with a 13-4 victory over No. 10 Albertus Magnus before upsetting No. 2 Briarcliff, 12-7, avenging a regular season loss. In Saturday’s semifinal against No. 11 Pawling, the Broncos jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the first-quarter and never relinquished control, defeating Pawling 19-11.
Scoring in the semifinals were Ellie Garofalo (5G, 3A), Hadley Ramirez (3G,4A), Rose Woolery (4G, 1A), Charlotte Murray (2G, 1A), Kendall Valente (2G), Grace Van Tienhoven (1G,3A), Mabel Arrighi (1G, 1A0, and Caroline Melchionni (1G). Michaela Doheny made three saves.

The Bronxville girls will face Pleasantville in the Section 1 Class D Championship game tonight at 7 PM at Nyack High School.
“Last year we had an upsetting loss in the final to Pleasantville, and we're using that as motivation heading into this game,” said Murray. “As a team with a lot of seniors, we really want to end our Bronxville lacrosse careers with a big win and hopefully make it back to Cortland.”
Senior defender Caitlin Burke echoed that sentiment.
“We are really excited about this game and have been working very hard at practices. After last year’s loss, we are ready to show what Bronxville lacrosse is all about.”
