May 20, 2026: Led by co-captains Andrew Gay, James O’Shaughnessy, and Alex Savoy, the Bronxville boys’ golf team has the largest roster in recent memory, with 21 players from 8th to 12th grade, including seven seniors. Sixty golfers from across Section 1 competed in the opening round of the tournament on Monday, battling high heat and humidity and winds reaching 30mpg.
Ruhanen, the team’s most consistent low scorer, tied for 8th at sectionals with a 77. During the regular season, Ruhanen posted four rounds at or below par through his 12 matches. This is his third appearance at sectionals.
Kenny has been extremely consistent throughout the regular season. His favorite number this season was a 37, posting it four times in 12 matches. He placed 23rd at sectionals with an 81.
“Tommy and Timmy are the definition of resilience playing in the most school matches–12 out of 16–as well as playing a very competitive tournament schedule on the weekends,” said Coach Chris Lockwood.

Gay started the year off great with low rounds at Siwanoy before cooling off in the middle of the season. He saved his best for last, posting two rounds of 37 at Pelham Country Club and Century Club when he needed them most to qualify. Gay finished 47th at sectionals with an 87.
Ruhanen, who sits just a few shots off the lead, and Kenny will advance with 30 other golfers to Round 2 at Centennial Country Club on Tuesday, May 26. The top nine golfers, based on combined scores from both rounds, will represent Section 1 at the state tournament at Mill Creek Golf Club in Churchville on June 7 and 8.
Go Broncos.
