Bronxville Squash Players Win Big at Silver Nationals

Apr. 27, 2016: Thirteen talented squash players from Bronxville participated in the U.S. Junior Silver Squash Championships held at Chelsea Piers in Connecticut April 15 to 17.
Bronxville was well represented in the 11s, 13s, 15s, 17s, and 19s divisions: Katie Nichols (Girls Under 11), James Murphy and Thomas Sheumack (Boys Under 11), Lily Jebejian, Gainsley Korengold, and Laney Neild (Girls Under 13), Peter Vorbach and Ben Korengold (Boys Under 13), Pippa Fraser (Girls Under 15), Hadley Barr and Gigi Pennoyer (Girls Under 17), and Liv Cappello (Girls Under 19).
It was a great weekend of squash for the Bronxville players, with notable results in many age groups. Thomas Sheumack put in an outstanding performance, winning five consecutive matches against strong players and finishing number one in the BU11 age group. Laney Neild, who was unseeded, also had a great tournament, finishing number three in the GU13s. Pippa Fraser finished number four in the highly competitive GU15s, and Katie Nichols finished a strong number 6 in the GU11.
Other notable results include James Murphy, who got to the semifinals of the consolation in the BU11 and Lily Jebejian, Justin Barr, and Liv Cappello, who all got to the quarters of the consolation in their age groups.
Hadley Barr (GU17) and Gainsley Korengold (GU13) both finished in the top 24 of their age groups. Ben Korengold, who just recently aged-up to the BU13, lost two matches and won three, ultimately winning the plate. Finally, Gigi Pennoyer, who played very well in the highly competitive GU17s, finished in the top 32.
Congrats to all! Bronxville once again showed its prowess in the junior squash world.
