May 18, 2016: In a home game on Monday, the Bronxville boys’ lacrosse team (8-8) rolled over Ardsley (7-9) in the first round of the playoffs, scoring 19 and holding the Panthers scoreless. The Broncos enter the playoff season ranked as the No. 6 Class C team in the state but are likely to face some of their toughest competition right in Section 1. Briarcliff is ranked 4th in the state, and Pleasantville is ranked No. 5.
The Broncos received the No. 4 seed in the section after losing in overtime to Pleasantville, Briarcliff, and Westlake during the regular season. Briarcliff received the top seed; Pleasantville is No. 2, and Westlake is No. 3.
Bronxville and Pleasantville have created quite a rivalry in the past few years. The Broncos defeated Pleasantville in 2013 and 2014 to win the sectional title, but last year the Panthers stripped the title from the Broncos with a 9-7 victory. If the Broncos are to have a rematch with Pleasantville this spring, they will have to get by No. 5 Irvington on Wednesday and will need to come up with a semifinal win on Saturday. The Section 1 Championship will be held on Wednesday, May 25, at White Plains High School.
Schedule
5/18: Sectional Quarterfinals: Bronxville vs Irvington, Chambers Field
5/21: Sectional Semifinals: Winner of Bronxville/Irvington vs Winner of Briarcliff/Hen Hud
5/25: Sectional Championship, White Plains High School, 5:30 pm
After putting together a 13-3 season with a very competitive schedule, the girls’ lacrosse team received the top seed in Section I Class C and is ranked No. 6 in the state. The Broncos’ three losses this season were to Somers, Yorktown, and North Shore, all Class B teams with top-ten state rankings. The Bronxville girls will play in the first round of playoffs today against either No. 16 Putnam Valley or No. 17 Edgemont.

5/23: Semifinals at higher seed
