By S. Quinn DeJoy and J. Murrer
Sep. 21, 2016: The Bronco season is well under way, and most Bronco teams are playing multiple games each week. Over the weekend, both the boys' and girls' soccer teams won the Broncofest tournament, and the boys' football team picked up its first win of the season. Homecoming activities start next Monday and continue through the weekend of October 1. For a schedule of homecoming events, see below.

It was a Valhalla-Bronxville matchup in the championship round of the annual Broncofest held on Sunday at Chambers Field. The boys' team won 3-0 on goals by Zach Zucker, Alston Tarry, and Will Vranka. The girls took an early 1-0 lead on a goal by Mason Warble and were able to hold Valhalla scoreless for the remainder of the game. Warble was named Player of the Game.
Bronco Update: Field Hockey

The Bronxville girls' field hockey team entered the 2016 season as the Class C favorite and was ranked #7 in all of Section 1 by the Lohud Power Rankings. Bronxville opened the season with three wins against non-league opponents Harrison, Nyack, and Hastings but lost to Section 1 powerhouses Scarsdale and Rye, who are ranked #2 and #4 in the Power Rankings, respectively.
In the game against Croton yesterday, the undefeated Tigers came out strong, holding the Broncos scoreless for much of the first half, but goals by Mia Bettino, Ellie Walsh, and Hadley Barr gave the Broncos a 3-1 win.
The Broncos have a strong returning squad, including captains Bettino and Walsh, who are a dynamite duo on offense. Mallory Bates, Claire Kraemer, and Hadley Barr anchor the defense, along with goalkeeper Katie Gordon.
The Broncos' tough schedule continues with three games in the next five days, including a game next Monday against top-ranked Mamaroneck.
Bronco Update: Girls' Cross Country
At the Villa Invitational held at Van Cortlandt Park last Saturday, cross country racers from 37 different schools competed in the 2.5 mile race. Bronxville's top racer, Kaitlin Ryan, finished 8th, with a time of 15:45. Also scoring for the Broncos were Patty Haggerty, who placed 10th (16:08), Emma Mandanas, 28th (17:05), Avery Widen, 37th (17:25), and Bela Lamadrid, 45th (17:38). The Bronxville varsity team placed 3rd overall, behind Long Island's Sachem East and Syosset. The junior varsity team (Gigi Chrappa, Lindsey Nobles, Lyric Abbott, Sophia Sulimirski, and Bella Dibbini) also placed 3rd, and the freshman team (Eve Balseiro, Molly Palma, Marguerite Scotti, Ruby Howell, and Emily Perry) placed 2nd.
