Bronxville Alert

The following Bronxville Alert was sent on 1/13/25 at 1:44PM

Please be advised that the Parkway Road entrance ramp to the northbound Bronx River Parkway will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 10 AM to 2 PM, weather permitting. 

The temporary closure is required for guide rail repairs being performed by Westchester County. Motorists should use alternate routes during this time.

Jan. 25, Feb. 1, 8, 22 and March 1, 2026: TYA Baseball Clinics.  The winter clinic is professionally run by Around the Horn baseball coaches. The clinic is designed for boys and girls, 4-12 years old, who are interested in improving their fielding, throwing and batting skills to get tuned up for the spring baseball season. Jan. 20, 2026: Join Jansen Hospice for a morning Mahjong fundraiser – a fun, relaxed gathering for players of all levels, from beginners to seasoned hands. Hands-on instruction is available for up to 16 beginner players. Jan. 26, 2026, 7:00PM Online: Virtual Information Session: Writers Week Precollege Program: Since 1999, Writers Week at Sarah Lawrence College has offered creative high school students an immersive week-long experience with creative writing and the performance arts. This summer Sarah Lawrence is offering three sessions in July and August, both online and on campus. New this summer -- participants earn one college credit! Feb. 5, 2026, 7:00PM: The Friends of the Bronxville Public Library are pleased to sponsor a special evening with local author Steve Landsberg, co-author of PING, a gripping and revelatory story that uncovers the shocking true influence of ping pong on global politics. The author talk will be held in the Yeager Room of the Bronxville Public Library. Bronxville Overview

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.

While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.

Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.

The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
