Nov. 19, 2025: After defeating Putnam Valley in the sectional semifinals, the Broncos headed to Mahopac to face Dobbs Ferry in the Class C Sectional Championship last Saturday. The Broncos, who have overpowered their competition this season, also proved to be too much for the Eagles. Bronxville scored five touchdowns by the beginning of the second quarter, ultimately defeating Dobbs Ferry 56-6.
The team has crushed every Class C opponent this fall and has also had tremendous success against Class B opponents, including the Class B Sectional Champion, Sleepy Hollow. The Broncos defeated the Headless Horsemen 35-13.
Running back Brian Formato, who has been leading the Bronco offense all season, scored three of Bronxville’s touchdowns as he rushed for 192 yards on seven carries. Quarterback Theo McMurray scored one touchdown and completed two passes for 45 yards, and Brady Dolan returned an interception for 71 yards and a touchdown. The Broncos also scored on a blocked punt when Henry Scholes fell on the ball in the endzone, and finally, Desmond Heathwood scored on a quarterback keeper.
“Our section win was truly a team effort,” said Formato. “Everyone came in focused, did their job, and stayed locked in. Our coaches had us well prepared and ready to go. We’re excited for the opportunity this week and looking forward to a great regional game against Chester.”
Bronxville heads to Arlington High School at noon on Saturday to face Chester-Seward, the Section 9 Class C Champion. The Hambletonians' record is 8-1. Valhalla beat Chester-Seward last year in regionals 31-7 then lost to Schuylerville in state semis.
There are many familiar faces competing in Class C regionals this year including Schuylerville, the defending Class C Champion, General Brown, and Chenango Forks.
Chenango Forks has been a top competitor winning multiple state championships in both Class B and C over the years and last won the Class C title in 2021. General Brown has not won a state title but made it to the state finals back in 2010 before losing to the Broncos 34-14.
According to the November 12th New York State Sportwriters’ rankings, Bronxville is ranked No.4 in Class C and Chester-Seward is No. 11. Chenango Forks is the top-ranked team.
Go Broncos.
