Top Bronxville Sports Stories of 2015

Jan. 6, 2016: In 2015, current and former Bronxville High School athletes won numerous awards and received recognition at the league, section, state, and national levels. As usual, Bronxville School students, parents, and community members joined forces to support the Broncos for various community events, including homecoming. Some of the most popular stories from 2015 focused on Bronco achievements and awards, homecoming, and college signings. Below is a recap of the top sports stories of 2015. Bronxville athletes have a history of winning state titles and setting records, and 2015 was no exception. Members of the Bronxville girls' outdoor track team captured gold in the 1500m, the 4x400m relay, and the 4x800m relay, and lacrosse player Henry Grass, who is currently playing for Johns Hopkins, broke a 32-year-old Section 1 scoring record.

The Bronxville varsity teams won Section 1 championships in boys' and girls' track and field hockey, and the girls' lacrosse team won sectionals and regionals and made it all the way to the state semifinals. Bronxville senior Jimmy Purdy won the Section I title in tennis, and the undefeated golf team sent three players to the New York State Championships.
There was a big change to the fall football schedule. For the first time ever, the Bronco football team moved up to Class B, leaving behind rivals Dobbs Ferry, Woodlands, and Tuckahoe. In their Class B season opener, the Broncos beat Edgemont in an exciting triple overtime game.
