Feb. 24, 2016: The Bronxville girls' track teams have had an illustrious history, winning multiple state championships and often breaking records along the way. It is hard to believe records could still be broken, but this past weekend, the Broncos did it once again.
On Saturday, February 20, at the Millrose Games, Kirsten Ircha, Caroline Kirby, Laura Holland, and Kaitlin Ryan placed second in the suburban 4x400m relay with a time of 3:57.59, breaking a twelve-year-old Bronxville School record of 4.00.06, which was held by Jaglom, Smith, Boyle, and Bergold.
The Broncos have a long history of competing at the Millrose Games, the longest-running and most prestigious indoor track and field competition. The games are held right in our backyard at the New Balance Track & Field Center at The Armory, but for almost one hundred years they took place at Madison Square Garden.
The 4x400m relay team broke its season best time by 11 seconds with Kaitlin Ryan anchoring with a 56.70. Ircha led off the relay with a time of 60.47 and was followed by Kirby (61.05) and Holland (59.38).
At the State Qualifiers on Sunday, Kaitlin Ryan placed first in the 1000m with a time of 2:50.19, breaking her own record from 2015. She is ranked No. 2 in New York State and will head to the state championships at Cornell University on March 5.
