Nov. 9, 2016: This past Saturday, the Bronxville Broncos fifth/sixth-grade football team successfully completed its Westchester Youth Football League (WYFL) regular season with a 6-1 record after a decisive 30-20 win over rival Tuckahoe. This coming Saturday (Nov. 12) on Chambers Field at 9:30 am, the #1-seed Broncos will take on the #4-seed Pleasantville Panthers, a team that also ended its season with a 6-1 record. Please come out and support the boys!!!
Against a very tough Tuckahoe squad, which sported a 5-2 record coming into the game, the Broncos wasted little time setting the tone when Luke Stephens took the first snap from scrimmage and scampered 65 yards down the sideline through a gaping hole opened up by Jeremy Freeman, Ronin Kaplan, Joseph Matthews, and Eamonn O'Reilly. The Broncos' early dominance continued throughout the first half, which ended with Bronxville up 22-0.
In the second half, Tuckahoe did everything it could to mount a comeback, but the Broncos were not to be denied and sealed the victory with another long TD run by Luke Stephens. In the game, Sean McGrath also tallied two TDs, while Charlie Clifford nailed three extra-point kicks (worth two points each). It was a fantastic effort by all!
