Jan. 25, 2017: On January 17, parents, coaches, and school administrators gathered in the high school library to publicly recognize five Bronxville lacrosse players who have committed to play in college.
Seniors Beth Finley, Lucy Hanrahan, Olivia Jensen, Ellie Walsh, and Mason Warble, a core group of players who have helped the Broncos advance to the New York State Class C semifinals for the past three seasons, will continue to play lacrosse at top colleges. Jensen and Walsh will be teammates as they both head to Cornell; Warble will play for Brown; Finley for the University of Pennsylvania; and Hanrahan for Gettysburg College.
"My teammates and coaches are the reason I wanted to enter the recruiting process," said Hanrahan. "They taught me how to balance the competitiveness and fun in lacrosse. Having a second family is something I cherish in high school and knew I would want to have in college."
The girls' lacrosse team has a consolidated three-year record of 52-14-2, and these five seniors are looking forward to their final high school season.
"I've been fortunate to play on a high school team with so many talented players, and I'm really excited about the upcoming spring season," said Warble. "The coaches have scheduled a lot of challenging games, which will prepare us for post-season play."
Many of these girls, including Beth Finley, started playing for Bronxville Youth Lacrosse Association and continued through the modified, JV, and varsity programs.
"Without the development I experienced on these teams, I never would have become the player I am today," said Finley, "and I am forever grateful for that. I'm looking forward to my last varsity lacrosse season at Bronxville, and I'm hoping we can bring home the state championship."
More players have been recruited from this class than ever before.
"The class of 2017 has been an outstanding class for us," said Sharon Robinson, who has coached the Broncos for the past decade. "They are a very talented, cohesive, hard-working, and fun class to coach. I look forward to cheering them on to future achievements, on the field and off, for years to come."
Go Broncos.
