Broncos Head to States: Girls’ Lacrosse and Track and Field

By S. Quinn DeJoy and J. Murrer
Jun. 6, 2018: It has been a successful spring season for the Bronxville girls' lacrosse team and the boys' and girls' track and field teams. The Bronxville girls' lacrosse team brought home its fifth consecutive regional championship on Saturday, defeating Section 9's Millbrook, 16-6, and advanced to the Class D state semifinals this week. In addition to the lacrosse team, sixteen Broncos head to the New York State Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

In Saturday's regional lacrosse game, Millbrook scored first with two quick goals in less than three minutes. The Broncos quickly stepped up their defense and answered back with six straight goals, keeping the lead for the rest of the game. Bronxville's constant pressure and ability to win almost every draw earned them the win and another trip to the state semifinals. The Broncos have been motivated all season to get back to the state finals after a heartbreaking loss to Skaneateles last year in double overtime.
Scoring for the Broncos in the 16-6 win over Millbrook is below:
Allie Berkery: 4 goals, 4 assists
Anneke Pulkkinen: 4 goals
Fiona Jones: 3 goals, 1 assist
Isabel Sonday: 2 goals
Charlotte Cagliostro: 1 goal
Katharine Forst: 1 goal, 1 assist
Victorio Ruffo: 1 goal, 1 assist
Caitlin Mooney: 3 saves
The Broncos will play on Friday at 11:00 am at SUNY-Cortland against Section 5 Palmyra-Macedon. If they win on Friday, they will play the winner of Section 3 South Jefferson/Section 11 Mattituck-Southold on Saturday at 11:30 am.
