July 28, 2021: It is a wrap for the 2020-2021 high school athletic season. Despite the many hurdles the athletes faced during this unusual school year, the Broncos made a name for themselves across the region.
Thirty Bronxville athletes were recognized as top competitors in Westchester and Putnam Counties by Lohud. Five Broncos were named to the Lohud All-Star First Team, and six were Second Team selections. For a complete list of awardees, see below.
The Bronxville football team played in the spring this year, and Henry Donohue was honored as a First Team, Defense, selection. Donohue, who played quarterback, running back and linebacker for the Broncos, was named Section 1 Class C/D Player of the Year and finished his career with over 2000 yards total offense. Donohue went straight from football to lacrosse and was a Second Team honoree for boys’ lacrosse.
Donohue and Connor Randall, a football Second Team selection, were recently honored with the prestigious Golden Dozen award, which recognizes twelve Westchester County football players for their academic and athletic accomplishments. Football Coach Patsy Manganelli noted that these two players “have set the standard in both the classroom and on the field.”
First Team All-Stars Caroline Ircha and Megan Krestinski were part of the undefeated girls’ lacrosse team. Ircha, a junior midfielder, had 96 draws, 35 goals and 24 assists this past spring. She has committed to play for Division 1 University of Pennsylvania in 2022. Krestinski, a junior who has committed to Division 1 Bucknell University, had 39 goals, 25 assists and recovered 32 ground balls during the spring season. Ircha and Krestinski were also named All-American by US Lacrosse. Only nine players in Section 1 received this honor.
First team All-Star awards were also given to two girls’ track athletes. Senior Jules Gravier earned First Team honors for the pole vault, and junior Milly Koenig was named to the First Team for the 400m.
