Bronco Roundup: Lacrosse and Outdoor Track and Field– Mid-Season Results

April 22, 2026: The Broncos are almost halfway through the spring season and have experienced almost every weather condition possible from early season cold to an unexpected heat wave. Below is a look at how the lacrosse and outdoor track and field teams fared last week.
Outdoor Track and Field
The Bronxville outdoor track and field teams had a busy week, competing in both the Dennis Fulton Invitational and the New York Relays.
The New York Relays, held on April 17th and 18th at Icahn Stadium, featured more than 400 athletes, primarily from high schools in New York and New Jersey, with others traveling from as far away as Florida and Texas.
The Bronxville girls’ 4x800m relay–Emerson Dennis, Ella McCalla, Carina Winiecki, and Finlay Rowan–captured first place in a field of 33 teams, finishing in a time of 9:32.05. Spence School placed 2nd in 9:39.25 followed by General Douglas MacArthur in third at 9:42.43.
The Bronxville boys’ 4x800m relay–Will Hogue, Matthew Jensen, Grant Patterson, and Julian Gonzalez–placed third in 8:08.33. Kellenberg Memorial High School won the event in 7:55.56, and Bronx High School of Science placed second in 8:06.42.

Bronxville was the smallest school competing at the Fulton Invite, a meet that featured eleven public and Catholic schools with significantly larger enrollments. Despite that, the Broncos delivered an impressive performance.
The Bronxville boys’ team scored 66 points to finish third, behind first-place Iona Prep (95) and runner-up New Rochelle High School (76).
The girls’ team was equally strong, placing second with 73.33 points. New Rochelle took first with 85 points, while Ursuline finished third with 70.

Boys’ Lacrosse

The boys’ lacrosse team is off to a strong 7-2 start, with seven games remaining in the regular season. The Broncos are currently ranked No. 1 in Class D, and No. 6 in the LoHud Power Rankings, which includes teams of all sizes in Section 1.
Bronxville has earned several wins over top teams including No. 6 John Jay-Cross River, and in the past week and a half, added two more wins against Scarsdale (12-8) and Warwick (13-4). With several key players sidelined by injury, the Broncos have also suffered two losses– a 13-8 defeat to No. 5 Yorktown and an 18-6 loss yesterday to No. 2 Mamaroneck.

In the win over Scarsdale, Nick Martinelli recorded two goals and four assists, and Trevor Valente scored five goals. Patrick Plunkett (2G,2A) and Chase Bacigalupo (1G,1A) also contributed to the scoring.
Against Warwick, Bacigalupo led with seven goals, and Nick Martinelli (4G, 1A), Brady Dolan (1G,2A), and Cooper Martinelli (2A) added to the scoring.
In the loss to Yorktown, Plunkett scored four goals and one assist, and Martinelli and Valente each scored two.
The Broncos face a challenging stretch ahead, hosting No. 2 Rye on April 28th and traveling to No. 1 Iona Prep on April 30th. Bronxville will compete in Class D playoffs but will not meet Class D opponents until the last three games of the regular season when they play Pleasantville, Westlake, and Putnam Valley.

The girls’ lacrosse team has taken on a challenging schedule, facing many of the top teams in Section 1.The 3-4 Broncos have put together a string of wins this week, defeating Scarsdale (19-4), Mamaroneck (15-8), and Somers (9-8).
All three of Bronxville’s losses have come against teams ranked in the LoHud top ten, including No. 2 Rye, No. 4 Yorktown, and No. 7 Pelham. The Broncos currently sit just outside the rankings, first on the bubble.
In Saturday’s win over Mamaroneck, Charlotte Murray and Mabel Arrighi each scored four and had a combined 14 draw controls. Five additional Broncos scored, including Rose Woolery with three goals, and Grace van Tienhoven, Juliet Bruno, Hadley Ramirez, and Caroline Melchionni each added one. Michaela Doheny made 10 saves in the goal.
Bronxville dominated Scarsdale in a 19-4 win. Murray led the way with five goals, five assists and four draw controls. Woolery added five goals, while Ramirez (1G, 3A), Melchionni (2G, 1A), Arrighi (2G, 2A), van Tienhoven (2G, A), Emerson Gramins (1G, 2A), and Kate Outcault (1G) all contributed. Doheny made four saves.

As a Class D program, Bronxville will face just one Class D team–Briarcliff– during the regular season. The Broncos also have two more tough Section 1 matchups ahead, hosting No. 3 Suffern on April 28 and No. 9 John Jay–Cross River on May 2.
