Sep. 21, 2016: The Community Fund of Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe recently named Neal Denning as its new president for the 2016-17 fiscal year. He succeeds outgoing president Doug Meyer.
Neal has been a member of the board of The Community Fund since 2011 and has served as a member of its executive committee for the last four years, including in roles as president-elect and Eastchester Tuckahoe Campaign Co-Chair. He and his wife, Tara, have been lifelong residents of the Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe (BET) area, having lived in the villages of Eastchester and Tuckahoe, and are raising four children who attend the Tuckahoe schools.
Denning is a graduate of Boston College and currently works as director of investor relations at Roystone Capital Management in New York. An active member across the BET community, Neal also participates in the Eastchester Irish American Association, the St. Joseph's Men's Club, and the Bronxville Manor Association, and he is a coach in both the Tuckahoe Youth and Eastchester Youth Soccer Associations. He was also a founding member of the Mary Denning Scholarship Fund and continues to serve on the board.
"The Community Fund is a special organization that truly symbolizes the totality of our home town," remarked Denning. "Through the generosity of our residents, the diligence of our local volunteers, board members and evaluators, and the tireless work of the agencies we support, we collectively enhance our community. The Community Fund offers a unique lens into the needs among our residents that would otherwise be overlooked and is steadfast in addressing the most pressing causes that impact everyone from our youth to our elders and those in between." Denning continued, "I'm proud to be helping to lead such an organization, because it epitomizes our residents' commitment to giving back and to ensuring that Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe remain close-knit communities that support one another and make this such a special place to live. I am thrilled to be part of this effort and look forward to kicking off our campaign."
Other appointments for the 2016-17 year include Jim Rotenberg, who will be taking on a dual role as president-elect and evaluations co-chair, along with Amy Korb; Kim Powell, secretary; Dana Arrighi, treasurer; Donna Ruhanen, marketing chair; Jennifer Lescott and Bill Rizzo, investment co-chairs; Annette Healey Dowling and Doug Meyer, campaign co-chairs for Bronxville; Mike Calano, campaign co-chair for Eastchester-Tuckahoe; and Robert Castaño and David Scalzo, golf outing co-chairs.
New to the board this year are Jennifer Buckley, Barbara Eustis, Tom Giordano, Kate Ramundo, David Scalzo, John Toker, and Kiri Wolfe. They will be joining returning board members Stephen Arcano, Andrea Bates, Jennifer Colao, Ashleigh Donovan, Kristen Evans, Judy Foley, Fran Harris, William Knox, Rosetta McArdle, Kevin McNeill, Cathy Needham, John Reynolds, Tom Sipple, Albert Van Ness, and Mark Welshimer.
"I am thrilled to have Neal as our president," noted Melinda Burge, executive director of The Community Fund. "His knowledge of our community is immeasurable and will be a great benefit to our residents." Burge went on to say, "It is always very exciting for me to begin a new campaign year and work with a new board. We are fortunate to draw our board members from across all three BET communities and this year's class of new members has an impressive range of talent and expertise which will compliment perfectly with that of our returning members."

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.
While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.
Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.
The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
