Dec. 22, 2021:  It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and colleague Dr. Jane Benjamin on the morning of December 18th.  Jane joined The Counseling Center more than 28 years ago and brought with her competence, clarity, and compassion. Jane listened intently and heard beyond the words.  She was always able to feel the feelings, think the thoughts, and find the words to heal the hurt. As TCC grew and enlarged, Jane’s role grew and enlarged as well--first as our liaison with Sarah Lawrence College, then as our clinical director. Her door, like her heart, was always open. Her vision was to be connected, open, and growing, and that is how we will always remember her.

Jane passed peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by dear family and friends. At her request, a public memorial service will be held at a date to be announced.

The passing of Dr. Benjamin may impact those in the community who have known Jane, or worked with her at some point. If anyone is particularly upset by this news and would like to have a conversation with someone at our center, we are open to hearing from you.
