Now through April 27, 2025: The Orchid Show: Mexican Modernism at the New York Botanical Gardens. The NYBG website describes this show as follows: "Set off on a journey where the fusion of tradition and contemporary artistry takes center stage amid awe-inspiring displays of orchids, and wander through lush landscapes brought into vivid relief with thousands of flowers that showcase diverse ecosystems. Among bright arrangements of orchids in settings inspired by the bold, multicolored designs of Mexican modernist architect Luis Barragán, come visit a paradise of tropical beauty—without ever leaving the Bronx." CLICK HERE to learn more.

Feb. 26 & 27:  Iona's Presidential Speaker Series: In a digital age dominated by constant notifications and distractions, understanding the power of focused attention has never been more critical. Iona University is proud to host D. Graham Burnett, Ph.D., a distinguished scholar and leading thinker on the human dimensions of attention and its current crisis, to explore these important themes. The event will take place on the following dates and locations.
 
-Bronxville: February 26, 6:30 p.m., Sommer Center on Iona’s Bronxville campus
-New Rochelle: February 27, noon, Romita Auditorium, Ryan Library on Iona’s New Rochelle campus

Mar. 1, 2025, 6pm: The Picture House Presents "Marquee Night 2025."  The event will honor Trudie Styler for her exceptional contributions to film and philanthropy, Congressman George Latimer for his unwavering support of the arts, and board member Peter Kohnstamm with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Guests will then move to The Picture House theater in Bronxville for prosecco, dessert, and an exclusive advance screening of Styler's award-winning documentary Posso Entrare? An Ode to Naples.

Mar. 2, 9: TYA Baseball Clinics at the Bronxville School. Focused on baseball fundamentals. Children ages 4 to 12.  More information on tyabaseball.com.
 
Mar. 6, 6:30 pm: Opening Reception for the Bronxville Adult School Art Show 2025. Held at the Bronxville Public Library's Yeager Room (201 Pondfield Road), the art show will feature works by Bronxville Adult School students and instructors and will be on view for the month of March during regular library business hours.

March 18, 2025, 7:00PM:  Virtual Info Session: Writers Week for Teens at Sarah Lawrence College: For 25 years, Writers Week at Sarah Lawrence College has offered creative young people an immersive week-long experience with creative writing and the performance arts. The largest program run by Sarah Lawrence’s noncredit Writing Institute, in collaboration with the College’s Theatre program, Writers Week is open to students ages 14 to 18 from around the world. This summer, we will be holding three Writers Week sessions: two on campus and one online. Learn more about Writers Week in this virtual information session. March 21, 2025, 8:00pm: Esteemed Presidential Historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning Author Doris Kearns Goodwin will be the featured speaker at the Annual Brendan Gill Lecture at Sarah Lawrence's Reisinger auditorium. Goodwin, known for her extensive works on American presidents and influential historical figures, will share her insights in a talk titled “Leadership in Turbulent Times:  Advice for Today from Our Best Presidents.”This free lecture is open to the public and presented each year by The Bronxville Historical Conservancy as a gift to the community. March 25, 2025, 1:30 pm: Gramatan Village in partnership with Caring People presents Stay Sharp, Stay Safe, Stay Independent: Senior Wellness, Scams & Legal Planning. Speakers include: Shawn McGirl with Preferred Certified - Exercise Techniques and Activities to Promote Safety; Cynthia Kuster with Lamson & Cutner Elder Law & Estate Planning – Integrating Estate with Long Term Care Planning; Solomon from Harmony Road – Mental Health Challenges in Seniors; Tiara Brandon from Caring People – Maintaining Independence and Quality of Life, and Bronxville Police Department – Recognizing and Preventing Common Scams That Target Seniors. It's their spring fundraiser where you'll be able to bet on phantom horse races, bid on auction items and eat, drink and be merry! Proceeds benefit the library. Tickets go on sale February 28. Picture House Wellness Initiative for Seniors.  The Picture House Regional Film Center is introducing a new wellness initiative for seniors in partnership with the Thrive Studio in Pelham. This program will take place just before The Picture House's popular Senior Cinema - free screenings on Tuesdays for moviegoers aged 65 and older – offering seniors a chance to relax and rejuvenate their bodies with a gentle Chair Yoga session before enjoying a film. The program will run on the second Tuesday of the month in Bronxville.

DelBello Muscoot Farm Little Explorers program.  If you’re looking for something to do with your child who is 3, 4 or 5, you might want to bring them to Muscott Farm for a fun morning of stories, crafts, animals and nature activities. Bronxville Overview

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.

While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.

Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.

The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
