Oct. 16, 2024: Concordia Conservatory proudly marks the start of the 21st season of its esteemed Hoch Chamber Music Series by presenting the Emerson Legacy concert featuring The Calidore String Quartet on Saturday, November 9 at 7:00 pm at The Reformed Church of Bronxville (180 Pondfield Road) and on Sunday, November 10 at 3:00 pm The Second Congregational Church in Greenwich, CT (139 E. Putnam Avenue).
The Calidore String Quartet, acclaimed as one of the world's leading interpreters of chamber music, has captivated audiences with a diverse repertoire ranging from Beethoven and Mendelssohn to contemporary composers like Caroline Shaw and György Kurtág. Over more than a decade, the quartet has performed in major venues and festivals across North America, Europe, and Asia, receiving numerous awards and critical acclaim for their “astonishing” musicianship.
The Calidore String Quartet serves as the University of Delaware Distinguished String Quartet and was mentored by the Emerson String Quartet at SUNY-Stony Brook. The evening's program promises an exquisite blend of classical masterpieces, with the first act beginning with Schubert’s String “Quartettsatz” No. 12 and culminating with Artistic Director and violist Lawrence Dutton joining the Quartet for Mozart’s String Quintet No. 3. After a brief intermission, the concert will end with Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major.
For the past two decades, Concordia Conservatory's Hoch Chamber Music Concert Series has remained steadfast in its mission to enrich communities across Westchester and now Fairfield county with exceptional musical experiences. Through its unwavering dedication, the Conservatory continues to share the transformative power of music with audiences of all ages, fostering a deeper appreciation for the arts and inspiring future generations of musicians.
This heralds a momentous occasion for the Hoch Series as this is the first concert to be performed in the Conservatory’s new Fairfield County performance space, Second Congregational Church.
