Concordia Conservatory Receives Prestigious Award

By Marilou Yacoub, Director, Concordia Conservatory

July 14, 2025: Concordia Conservatory has been named the recipient of the 2025 IAHD Spotlight Award, honoring its commitment to inclusive arts programming and its impactful partnership with the Institute of Applied Human Dynamics (IAHD).

This recognition highlights the success of the Conservatory’s UNIQUE Series, launched in 2021 to serve neurodiverse individuals of all ages. “The UNIQUE was created to celebrate individuality, creativity, and connection,” said Kathleen Suss, Executive Director of Concordia Conservatory.

Thanks to the vision of leadership of IAHD CEO and Tuckahoe Mayor Omayra Andino and the dedication of the IAHD team, the series quickly evolved into a cherished tradition for IAHD residents and staff. Today, IAHD participants form a large and vibrant part of every UNIQUE audience. “Over the past three years, we’ve developed deep and joyful relationships with IAHD residents and caregivers, whose warmth and enthusiasm bring such incredible energy to every performance.”

In addition to the UNIQUE Series, Concordia Conservatory offers movement therapy programs on-site at IAHD locations in the Bronx and Tarrytown, led by a Conservatory faculty music and movement therapist. These weekly sessions provide opportunities for creative expression, physical engagement, and connection through rhythm and motion— further extending the Conservatory’s mission.

“Omayra has been an extraordinary partner and friend to the Conservatory,” Suss added. “Her leadership has deepened our shared commitment to inclusion, and we are so proud of what we’ve built together with IAHD.”

Omayra Andino added, “I am filled with immense gratitude and pride for the incredible strides we have made together in our mission to bring wellness to life—ensuring that every individual has access to holistic, joyful, and healthy living.”

The 2025 IAHD Spotlight Award was presented at IAHD’s Spring Gala on June 11 at the Cutting Room in NYC. Concordia Conservatory’s mission is to inspire, instruct, and enrich lives through music by offering excellence in education and performance.

Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
