Bronxville High School Piano Quintet Advances to Semi-Finals of Lincoln Center Competition

Feb. 24, 2026: Bronxville High School’s Piano Quintet has advanced to the Semi-Final Regional Round of the 42nd Annual Young Musicians Concert hosted by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, a highly competitive national chamber music competition.
The ensemble will perform at the Hudson Valley regional concert on Feb. 26 in Scarsdale, representing Bronxville among top student musicians from across the region.
The Piano Quintet features Abigail Fong and Alexander Cebenoyan on violin, Ava Toolan on viola, Charlotte Davis on cello, and Sarah Nazari on piano.
Under the direction of Matthew Dell, orchestra director at Bronxville High School, the students submitted a recorded video audition that was reviewed by a panel of professional musicians from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Groups apply from across the country, with selected ensembles advancing to perform at regional concerts.
The quintet is performing the first movement of Robert Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-flat major, Op. 44, a demanding masterwork of the chamber repertoire. The piece challenges each musician not only to master their individual part, but also to understand how it weaves into the larger ensemble texture.
The group rehearses and largely leads itself, working collaboratively to shape interpretation, balance and phrasing and refining their performance with guidance from a chamber coach. Judges noted the ensemble’s strong overall understanding of the work and unified playing, while offering detailed feedback to support continued growth as they prepare for the regional performance.
This achievement reflects the spirit of the Bronxville Promise, as students challenge themselves artistically, collaborate with purpose and strive for excellence on a regional stage. Advancing to the semi-final round highlights both their individual dedication and the strength of Bronxville’s music program.
As they prepare for their Feb. 26 performance, the quintet continues refining their interpretation of this masterful work and representing The Bronxville School with pride.

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.
The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.
The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
