Letter to the Editor: Tom Leslie in Support of Bill Primps for Village Justice

To the Editor:
Feb. 14, 2018: I write to support the candidacy of William Primps to serve as village justice in Bronxville.
I have known Bill very well over the years, first as a fellow parent in The Bronxville School, and then as a village trustee, when both of us served under Mayor Nancy Hand in the 1990s.
I cannot think of a person in the village who more embodies the qualities of judgment, fairness, and humanity so necessary in a judicial position that is so close to home.
While I served as trustee, Bill was promoted to deputy mayor, showing the degree to which Mayor Hand relied on his judgment. He was instrumental in improving relations with the village police force and in retaining new outside counsel to negotiate an improved contract with the force.
When difficult issues came before our board, Bill’s insights were always valued.
I would strongly encourage village residents to fill the vacancy in George McKinnis’s position by putting it in Bill’s very capable hands.
Thomas M. Leslie
Former Bronxville Village Trustee
