March 6, 2025: The Westchester Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced its 2025 “Golden Dozen” in mid-February, with three Bronxville football players earning recognition. Matthew McSherry and Danny Kelty were named Golden Dozen selections, while Davis Patterson received Scholar-Athlete honorable mention.
The Golden Dozen honors the top twelve high school students in Westchester County for their performance on the football field, accomplishments in the classroom, and community service activities. The players will be honored at a dinner next week.

Matthew McSherry, a captain of the 2024 team, played a key role in leading Bronxville to an 8-1 record and was named Section 1’s Class B Offensive Player of the Year and Offensive Lineman of the Year. He has received multiple football honors including All-Section and All-State-First Team for both his junior and senior seasons. McSherry was also named Team MVP for the 2024 football season. In addition to football, McSherry competes in the shot put during the indoor track season and plays lacrosse in the spring.
To win the Golden Dozen, these talented athletes also have to maintain a high GPA.
“I am very proud to have been selected for Golden Dozen,” said McSherry. “I think it is something that really defines Bronco football. The combination of both high-level athletic performance and academics is something that is hard to have, but it is common for our team and all of Bronxville athletes. And, I am happy that all of the work I put in is being recognized.”
Danny Kelty is also a three-sport athlete at Bronxville. He served as captain of the football and golf teams and was a starter on the varsity basketball team. As a defensive end on the football team, he received multiple accolades including All-Section and All-State, honorable mention. He was named the Defensive MVP for the Broncos last fall.
“Some highlights from my Bronxville football career include winning the Section 1 Title in junior year and making it to regional finals that same year,” said Kelty. “I cannot thank my teammates, coaches, and family enough for being there through it all. And to be honest, there is no better way to finish both my high school academic and athletic careers than with this Golden Dozen award.”

Davis Patterson played varsity football as a freshman and started at running back both his junior and senior years. Patterson was named Class B Offensive Back of the Year and All-Section and All-State for two years. His contributions to the 2024 Broncos earned him the Offensive MVP award. Davis also competes in indoor and outdoor track excelling at middle distances. He holds the Bronxville School record in the 300m and 600m and is a part of the 4x400m relay that set a Bronxville School record at Outdoor States last year.
The Golden Dozen award has been given to Westchester football players since 1974, and in that time, many Bronxville players have been the recipients. In the past ten years, twelve Bronxville football players have either won the award or received honorable mention recognition.
Go Broncos.
