The No. 4 Bronxville girls’ soccer team is headed to Regionals after capturing the Class B Section 1 Championship with a 4-1 win over rival and No. 1 seed Briarcliff. In the game held at Arlington High School on Saturday night, scoring for the Broncos were Caitlin Paisley, Amy Villanueva, Carson Kochansky, and Kalliroi Ladas.
It was a big win for Bronxville, especially since they have a long history playing against Briarcliff in the Sectional Tournament. The Broncos defeated Briarcliff in 2019 and 2021, but in 2022 and 2023, the Bears came out on top.

Football headed to Sectional Semifinals
In their Class B Section I playoff debut, the 8-0 Bronxville Broncos hosted the 4-3 Rye Neck Panthers on Saturday in front of a standing room only and raucous crowd at Chambers Field. Many alumni came out to support the Broncos, including members of the 2010 state championship team.
The Broncos looked well prepared for the game. On the initial kickoff a Rye Neck onside kick attempt was scuttled by senior Jeffrey Colangelo who was ready for trickery. A swarming defensive effort in the first quarter led to a safety by junior Thomas Freeman. The Broncos offense looked in stride, cruising to a 35-0 halftime lead and a final score of 42-7. Following this game, the Broncos defense has only surrendered 40 points on the season in eight games, which is less than one touchdown per game.
The No. 2 Broncos will face a very tough 4-4 Ardsley team in the Class B semifinals. Ardsley, seeded 6th, made it to the semifinals with a 14-13 upset over No. 4 Pearl River.
During the regular season, the Broncos edged out Ardsley in their closest game of the season. During that game, Ardsley was the first to put points on the board, but scoring went back and forth throughout the game. The Broncos found themselves down 19-18 in the fourth quarter, but with just minutes left, Bronxville scored to clinch a 26-19 victory.
The semifinal contest between Bronxville and Ardsley will take place on Saturday at 1:30PM at Chamber Field. In the other semifinal bracket, No. 1 Westlake will face No. 4 Pleasantville on Friday evening at 6:30.

The field hockey team, seeded No. 4 in Class C, lost to Putnam Valley in the Sectional Semifinals last Thursday. The Broncos and the Blue Tigers were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time sending the game into overtime. Putnam Valley scored in the second overtime to win the Sectional Semifinal.
Putnam Valley went on to win the Class C Sectional Championship on Sunday with a 2-0 victory over Pleasantville.
The Broncos, led by Captains Campbell Molloy and Ellie Garofalo, finished the season as League Champions with a 9-5-2 record.
Boys’ Soccer
The Broncos (11-3-2) made it all the way to the Class B Sectional Semifinals before falling 2-1 to No. 1 Keio team on Halloween. No. 3 Rye Neck won the Sectional Championship by upsetting Keio 3-2 in double overtime in the game on Sunday.
Bronxville sailed through the first round with a 7-0 win over Pawling. In the quarterfinal round, Bronxville defeated No. 4 Briarcliff 3-1 to move on to the semis. In semifinal loss against No. 1 Keio (15-1), Jernigan had nine saves, and Federico Pirelli scored the only Bronco goal.
The Broncos, led by Captains Miles Jernigan, Austin Waggoner, and Dimitri Hanjis, were seeded No. 5 out of 15 teams in Class B.
The team, which has 15 seniors on the roster, scored 53 goals this season and gave up only 18.
