Boys' and Girls' Lacrosse Teams Advance to Sectional Finals: See Playoff Schedule for All Bronco Sports

May 21, 2014: The Broncos are in the midst of the playoff season, with many games taking place this week. The boys' and girls' lacrosse teams came up with big wins in the first two rounds of sectional play, and both teams now advance to the Class C Section 1 Championships.

The Bronxville boys' lacrosse team, seeded No. 2 in Class C, overwhelmed Nanuet 16-1 in the quarterfinals last Saturday and easily defeated Briarcliff 17-4 in the semifinals yesterday. The Bronco boys, who have won the sectional championship for the last three years, will play the final sectional game against Pleasantville at White Plains High School on Thursday night at 8:00 pm. It is a rematch for the Broncos and the Panthers, who faced each other in the sectional final last year.

The girls' team solidly defeated Albertus Magnus 15-9 in the quarterfinals last Saturday and defeated Edgemont 14-8 yesterday to advance to the sectional final for the first time in program history. It was a big win for the Broncos, who lost to Edgemont less than two weeks ago. The No. 4 Broncos will face No. 2 Pearl River on Thursday at Torne Valley Sports in Hillburn at 5:00 pm.

For the first time in Bronxville history, four Bronco golfers, Martin Jensen, Connor Daly, Matt Bettino, and Chris Gay, qualified for the Section 1 tournament. Sixty-one golfers from Section 1 competed in the first round yesterday at Mahopac Country Club, and all four Broncos qualified for the second round, which will be held at Fenway Golf Club on Thursday. Currently, Martin Jensen is tied for 4th place, Connor Daly is in 6th, Matt Bettino is tied for 9th, and Chris Gay is tied for 14th. The nine Section 1 golfers with the lowest combined score from both days will qualify for states.
