Houlihan Lawrence Holds Grand Reopening of Historic Brokerage Office

Sep. 28, 2016: On Thursday, September 15, Houlihan Lawrence held a grand reopening of its historic Bronxville brokerage office at 4 Valley Road, where it all started over 125 years ago.
The event marked the completion of an extensive, historically accurate restoration of the structure, which sits at the heart of the village.
"We're proud of our Bronxville heritage and deep roots in the community," explained Cynthia Landis, the firm's Bronxville brokerage manager since 2007. "This very building was the birthplace of Houlihan Lawrence, and after 128 years we're still here and thriving."
Originally built by James Minot Prescott as the gatehouse to his estate, the structure was acquired by William Van Duzer Lawrence with his purchase of the Sunset Hill property. In the 1890s, Lawrence hired architect William Bates to rebuild the structure as a sales office for his Lawrence Park homes, which sprang up behind it. That progressive development project, modeled on the artist colonies of France's Fontainebleau Forest, eventually led to a full-fledged real estate enterprise that today ranks among the nation's top brokerages, with 30 offices and 1,300 agents north of New York City.
The Bronxville office has the highest market share of any single office in Westchester County. To celebrate Houlihan Lawrence's investment in its Bronxville brokerage and continued success in the community, their team opened its office doors to the surrounding community for a night of live music, cocktails, and hors d'oeuvres.
