Pet of the Week: Morty

Nov. 13, 2013:  Voldemort, aka "Morty," is an easygoing, young, medium-sized domestic gray short-hair kitty. We know he would love to tell us his story and explain what happened to him before he was left in a cardboard box at the doorstep of an animal shelter with a note that said, "Please take care of me."

Unfortunately, the person who left him did not disclose his name, so the shelter dubbed him Voldemort, obviously given by someone who is a fan of the Harry Potter series. This is just a guess, but after he was named, someone figured out that Voldemort, who is Harry Potter's nemesis, is not supposed to have his name spoken aloud and therefore was quickly renamed Morty in an effort to soften the blow against this kitty, who is 100% the antithesis of the doppelganger for which he was so named.

Contrary to the personality and significance of the Voldemort name, sweet and gentle Morty is friendly, highly approachable, laid back, and altogether serene. He is perpetually happy and surprisingly unfazed by situations that would rile the average pussycat.

Morty gets along well with other cats and enjoys hanging out and socializing with his buddies in the cat room. He also loves to have his picture taken and seemed to relish the attention he received while being in the spotlight.

We will never know what his pre-shelter life entailed, but it is clear that he is highly adaptable and will make a wonderful companion or family pet.

Morty was carefully examined by a veterinarian and deemed to be in excellent health. He has been neutered and is up to date with his vaccinations. This is one special young guy who is ready and eager to find his forever home. Please visit him today at Pets Alive Westchester.
