Registration for Bronxville Adult School Now Under Way

Aug. 13, 2014:  September is the beginning of a new school year for everyone, kids and adults alike. For adults, the Bronxville Adult School is the place to be.

Registration is open now. Catalogues have been mailed to residents of Bronxville and surrounding areas, and registration is open online as well at https://www.bronxvilleadultschool.org/.

Classes begin on September 6. There are many new ones to whet your appetite. Among those coming up soon are:

Brand-New to Bronxville? If you could use help navigating the area, this class is for you. It will offer information about which restaurants do home deliveries, local pediatricians, dentists, and dog parks. Also covered are kids' activities, preschool information, gyms, classes, and much more. In short, Bronxville will be demystified for recent arrivals or returnees who have been away for a while. The class date is Friday, September 19 at 9:30 am.

9/11 Memorial Museum. On Monday, September 15, this trip will explore the country's principal institution focused on the implications of the events of 9/11 and their continuing significance. There will be a guided tour of the museum plus time to explore both the museum and the outdoor 9/11 Memorial as well. Lunch is included at a local restaurant, the Palm-Tribeca.

Kykuit: The Rockefeller Estate & Washington Irving's Sunnyside. Two gems of the Hudson River Valley will be explored on this trip--and there is a discount if you register by September 5. Four generations of the Rockefeller families lived on the beautiful hilltop at Kykuit, which is known for its architecture, lovely gardens, art, history, and spectacular scenery. Lunch will be at Sunset Cove, where you will enjoy spectacular views of the Hudson. Next, tour Sunnyside, home of Washington Irving, best known for "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Learn about his storied past and how he became America's first internationally famous author.

There are many more classes coming up soon, from films to fitness, so be sure to read the catalogue you've already received or the one that is online.

Any questions, just call the Bronxville Adult School office at 914-793-4435 Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and noon. You can register by Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or check.

Bronxville Public Library

Bronxville Public Library

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children.  All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
