Nov. 21, 2018: In the Bronxville Village Board of Trustees meeting last week, the trustees approved a series of resolutions involving physical improvements.

The board approved $70,000 in funding for an architectural study of a new HVAC system for the Bronxville Library. The current system is in disrepair and needs to be upgraded.

The board also approved resolutions relating to the Avalon parking lot. The board previously approved the purchase of the property and on October 23 announced that it had entered into a purchase and sale agreement with the current owner, AvalonBay. The purchase price is $1.6 million. 

The October 23 update on the village website says, "Plans are already underway for the demolition of the building, removal of the fuel tanks and restoration of the site to a new municipal parking lot. The new surface parking lot is expected to increase the number of available spaces by approximately 20." In last week's meeting, the board approved a resolution for $425,000 for improvements to the lot such as drainage, lighting, resurfacing, and curbing. Mayor Mary Marvin commented that these upgrades "will really improve that neighborhood" and that the lot could produce more benefits than just as a commuter lot, such as parking for patrons of the village's businesses.

The board also approved a $2.025 million bond resolution for financing the combined $1.6 million and $425,000.

Also discussed was moving oversight for the village elections from the village to the Westchester County Board of Elections. Mayor Marvin commented that most of "our neighbors" are doing this, this would provide "clarity and separation," and this makes sense because the county board of elections runs every other election. This would likely happen for the 2020 election.

Finally, the trustees approved the spending of $10,000 for a survey of the Maltby parking lot and soil testing of the park.
