The Broncos will compete in the Division 2 Team Tennis Tournament this week at Harrison High School.
Boys Lacrosse
The Bronxville boys’ lacrosse team finished the season with a 10-6 record reflecting a very difficult schedule as they often played out-of-class against most of the top teams in Section 1. They had wins over No. 5 Horace Greeley (9-6) and No. 7 John Jay/Cross River (10-8), and suffered losses to the top four teams, Mamaroneck (18-6), Iona Prep (14-4), Rye (11-5), and Yorktown (13-8).
During the regular season they only played against Class D teams twice and defeated Briarcliff in their first game of the season but lost to rival Pleasantville 11-8 two weeks ago. Bronxville and Pleasantville have both won the Class D Section 1 Championship in recent years with the Panthers winning in 2023 and 2024 and the Broncos winning in 2025.
In the 2026 playoffs, Pleasantville is the No. 1-seeded team while Bronxville sits at No. 2.
The Broncos easily defeated No. 7 Valhalla, 17-2, yesterday in the sectional quarterfinals. Scoring for the Broncos were N. Martinelli (1G,6A), Plunkett (4G,2A), Valente (5G), Formato (3G,1A), C. Bacigalupo (1G,1A), H. Bacigalupo (1G,1A), Freeman (1G,1A), McMurray (1G,1A), and C. Martinelli (1G).
Bronxville advances to the semifinals where they will play the winner of No. 3 Irvington/No. 6 Westlake on Friday, May 29th. The Sectional Championship game will take place on June 2nd at Yorktown High School.
In other lacrosse news, former Bronco Wilder Burgin, Class of 2023, was part of the Princeton lacrosse team that defeated Notre Dame on Monday 16-9 to win the NCAA Championship.
Girls’ Lacrosse
The girls’ lacrosse team finished the season with a 5-8 record, and similar to the boys’ team, they had a very challenging schedule. Five of their losses were against the top five schools in all of Section 1: Nyack (18-4), Rye (16-7), Yorktown (12-11), Suffern (9-5), and Pelham (16-12).
The top two Class D teams in the sectional playoffs are Pleasantville and Briarcliff. The Broncos battled Briarcliff two weeks ago, losing 11-10, and they did not play Pleasantville during the regular season.
Bronxville is seeded No. 7 in the Class D playoffs and faced No. 10 Albertus Magnus this past Saturday. The Broncos took a 4-0 lead after the first quarter, a 9-0 lead at the half, and ultimately took home a 14-4 win.
In that win, Charlotte Murray was the top scorer with six goals and three assists. Also scoring for the Broncos were Ellie Garofalo (2G,2A), Claire Melchionni (2G), Kendall Valente (1G,1A), Grace Van Tienhoven (1G,1A), Mabel Arrighi (1G), and Arianna Bala, Greta Warren, and Hadley Ramirez each had one assist. Michaela Doheny had six saves.
The team will travel to Briarcliff today to face the Bears on their home turf. The quarterfinal game will start at 5PM.
Track and Field
The Broncos competed at the Mountie Madness in Suffern on May 21st. There were 50 teams competing at the event.
Bronxville’s Zijun Xu took first place in the discus with a throw of 157-10. Zijun Xu has won back-to-back Westchester County Championships in the discus in 2025 and 2026.
