April 23, 2026: Annella D. Matthy, 78, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2026, after a courageous, decade-long recovery from a stroke. Known for her ability to put others at ease, Annella leaves behind a legacy of intellect, creativity, and deep devotion to her family and community.
She was born to the late William and Annella (Wallace) Dick. Annella graduated from Morris Catholic High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Manhattanville College in 1970, majoring in Art and minored in English – interests that would shape both her professional path and lifelong passions.
Annella began her career at the Metropolitan Museum of Art before transitioning into publishing as an editor at Harcourt Brace Jovanovich. She later joined Morgan Guaranty Trust, where she worked as an editor in the International Economics group before completing the corporate banking training program. Through dedication and expertise, she rose to become a Vice President in Corporate Lending in the National Division. After retiring, she devoted herself fully to her family.
A committed and engaged community member, Annella was active in several organizations, including the Junior League of Bronxville and the Senior Citizens Committee. She was also a member of the Bronxville Field Club, Saint Andrew’s Golf Club, and Grand Harbor Golf Club in Vero Beach, where she formed many lasting friendships.
Annella had a deep appreciation for the arts and for meaningful connections with others. She enjoyed her book club and bridge group, and found great joy in painting, expressing her creativity through her work.
She will be remembered for her grace, intelligence, and the warmth she extended to everyone she met. Her presence will be deeply missed.
Annella is survived by her beloved husband, Peter Matthy; her children, Todd Matthy and Emma Black (Kenneth) and her cherished grandchildren, Brody and Scarlett Black. Though she had no siblings, she maintained a wide circle of close friends and extended family.
She will be laid to rest at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
