Amazon Studios to Premiere Film 'Wonderstruck' at Bereavement Center Charity Benefit October 13

Oct. 4, 2017: To support its Tree House program, The Bereavement Center of Westchester ("BCW"), in collaboration with Amazon Studios, will hold a "Treemiere" on October 13 at the Donnelley Film Theater in the Heimbold Visual Arts Center on the campus of Sarah Lawrence College.
The evening will feature a cocktail party reception and an exclusive screening of the film Wonderstruck, starring Oakes Fegley, Julianne Moore, and Michelle Williams and introducing Millicent Simmonds. Directed by Todd Haynes, Wonderstruck is based on the book by Brian Selznick and won every top award at the Cannes Film Festival this year, including the Palme d'Or.
A highlight of the evening will be an introduction by Selznick, who also wrote The Invention of Hugo Cabret, which became the Academy Award-winning movie Hugo.
The idea for this first-ever "Treemiere" came from former Westchester residents Bob and Jeanne Berney. The Berneys wanted to support the BCW Tree House program with a special film to raise much-needed funds and felt that Wonderstruck was the perfect movie. Bob Berney, head of movie marketing and distribution for Amazon Studios, and Jeanne recognized the strong connection between the film Wonderstruck and the work of the Tree House. "This film is about the power of memories," Jeanne Berney said. "I believe the strength and resilience of the children in Wonderstruck will resonate with everyone associated with the Tree House."
The Wonderstruck "Treemiere" will benefit the Tree House program, which offers peer support groups designed for children in Westchester who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling. The Tree House provides a safe and caring environment for these children to help them move toward hope and healing.

The Bereavement Center offers a variety of programs to help individuals and families cope with the death of a significant person in their lives. We offer expert consultation and guidance to community and religious groups, businesses, and other organizations through our community outreach services.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.
