Phia Primps and Carol Godfrey to Chair The Counseling Center’s 47th Annual Benefit Honoring Sarah and Bob Underhill

Apr. 25, 2018: In a whirlwind season of benefit events for a number of worthy community causes, Phia Primps and Carol Godfrey have joined forces to create a memorable evening for The Counseling Center.
On May 4 at the Bronxville Field Club, friends and supporters will gather to raise money for the center’s fee subsidy fund, which allows the center’s professional staff to offer critical services, including psychotherapy, marriage counseling, family and child therapy, and pastoral counseling, to those who are unable to afford full-fee treatment. he evening will honor Sarah and Bob Underhill.
“We care and we can help,” said Carol Godfrey, who will succeed Rosanne Welshimer next year as chair of the board. “If someone is struggling to get through a hurdle in life, The Counseling Center is an important resource no matter the age or nature of concern. By building our fee subsidy program, we can devote more time and resources to make a positive difference in people’s lives.”
Dr. Jane Benjamin, the center’s clinical director, noted: “Some turn to the center with serious mental health challenges, including major depression, anxiety/panic disorder, eating disorders, bipolar illness, self-injury, addiction. We specialize in treating those serious difficulties and many more--sometimes in short-term focused psychotherapy and often in longer-term, more intensive therapy. But many clients seek help with simply the normal hurdles of life. All of us face bumps in the road, and oftentimes it helps to speak to an objective, impartial person who is not a friend or family member. The Counseling Center specializes in helping deal with those challenges, too. Sometimes even just a few sessions will bring clarity and comfort.”
Phia Primps, co-chair of the benefit, added: “Whatever challenges someone might face, The Counseling Center, with offices located in The Reformed Church of Bronxville, as well as in Scarsdale, Riverdale, and New York City, offers a warm, safe, confidential place to get the help they need.”

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

Bronxville Green Committee
The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.

Bronxville Boy Scouts
The village of Bronxville has a long tradition of scouting. “The troops and packs of Bronxville have maintained the finest scouting organizations and have taught the boys of the Bronxville area to be leaders and outstanding members of the local, national and global communities.”
