Jansen Hospice & Palliative Care and Bereavement Center of Westchester Benefits Raise $60K and $80K; See Photos

Nov. 7, 2018: Lawrence Community Health Services kicked off the fall fundraising season with two very successful and fun-filled benefits for their two premier organizations, Jansen Hospice & Palliative Care and The Bereavement Center of Westchester/Treehouse.
The annual "Better Than Cooking Dinner" benefit, which was held on Wednesday, October 24, at the Bronxville Field Club, was an unqualified success. Chairs Brooke Horgan, Sarah Reynolds, and Michelle McBride put together an exquisite event for the 220 guests who came to support Jansen Hospice & Palliative Care.
Some of Westchester’s finest chefs served delectable dishes as guests enjoyed live music and mingled. The benefit raised $60,000. The generous donations will help enhance Jansen’s extraordinary end-of-life programs and services for patients and their families.
The restaurants and country clubs that made this annual event such an amazing success are Bronxville Field Club, Dumpling and Noodle, Eastchester Fish Gourmet, Justin Vineyards and Winery, Ladle of Love, Leewood Golf Club, Longford’s, Manursing Island Club, Nutmeg, Park 143 Bistro, Scarsdale Golf Club, Shenorock Shore Club, Siwanoy Country Club, Underhills Crossing, Yonkers Brewing Co., and Chantilly Patisserie.
On September 28, The Bereavement Center of Westchester had the first annual Tree House Rock party to benefit its cornerstone program, The Treehouse. Over 250 donors from Larchmont, New Rochelle, Rye, Irvington, Scarsdale, and Bronxville danced the night away in the sparkling Pandemonium Hut at the beautiful Larchmont Yacht Club. The night included a live Yacht Rock Band featuring music from the '70s and '80s, a taco bar, and tequila tastings.
The evening raised over $80,000 to benefit The Tree House program, which offers support for children ages 4 to 18 whose parent or sibling has died. The co-chairs for the event were MK O'Shaughnessy, Nancy McCreery, Janie Regan, Beth McErlean-Pierce, Chris Curtin, and board chair Ellen Bryceland.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

Bronxville Green Committee
The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.

Bronxville Boy Scouts
The village of Bronxville has a long tradition of scouting. “The troops and packs of Bronxville have maintained the finest scouting organizations and have taught the boys of the Bronxville area to be leaders and outstanding members of the local, national and global communities.”

Bronxville Girls Scouts
The Girls Scouts is “the world’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls where, in an accepting and nurturing environment, girls build character and skills for success in the real world.” In Girl Scouts, “girls discover the fun, friendship and power of girls together. Through the many enriching experiences provided by Girl Scouts, they can grow courageous and strong.”
