Betsy Putnam and MK O'Shaughnessy Named Co-Chairs of Bereavement Center of Westchester/Tree House Fund Board

Feb. 12, 2020: The Fund Board of The Bereavement Center of Westchester/Tree House, are pleased to announce the election of new co-chairs Betsy Putnam and Mary Karen (MK) O’Shaughnessy.
Betsy and MK have both been members of the Tree House Fund Board since 2017. As new chairs of the Tree House Fund Board they will be replacing Ellen Bryceland, Fund Board chair since 2013.
Betsy and MK will also sit on the Lawrence Community Health Services Board (LCHS).
“I am thrilled to be partnering with MK to continue the great work started by Ellen Bryceland on behalf of this wonderful organization.” said Ms. Putnam.

Betsy Putnam
Betsy Putnam is a lawyer and entrepreneur who has lived in Bronxville with her husband Ian and their three children since 2015. She also sits on the board of the OSilas Gallery and Lawrence Park Hilltop Association.
MK O'Shaughnessy
MK O’Shaughnessy is an Associate Broker at Houlihan Lawrence-Bronxville and began her career as a certified public accountant and real estate valuation and acquisition consultant.
She has co-chaired numerous annual fund raising benefits including The Brownstone School, St David’s School and the Central Park Conservancy Playground Partners. She and her husband David have two sons and have lived in Bronxville since 2013.
“This is an exciting time for the Tree House. With the start of our new awareness campaign called Helping The Helpers aimed at parents of school aged children in Westchester County and our 25th anniversary celebration, Betsy and I are eager to make 2020 a most memorable year” said MK.
The Tree House is a vital part of LCHS which operates in affiliation with New York Presbyterian/Lawrence Hospital. The Tree House is 100% donor funded, and is provided to children and their families free of charge.
About The Tree House School Outreach Program
The Tree House School Outreach program offers education, guidance and support to school professionals currently dealing with, or preparing for, issues of loss, grief and tragedy among their students.
School personnel has the opportunity to make a big difference in the lives of grieving children, but often do not know how. The Tree House counselors are here to teach them more about the nature of grief for children and teens, including their unique needs and the many ways that adults can support them.

Boulder Ledge Garden Club
Founded in 1966, the Boulder Ledge Garden Club is rooted in a mission to inspire a deeper appreciation and love for gardening and flower arranging. The club is dedicated to fostering and promoting interest and knowledge in gardening.
The Club maintains Bronxville’s Bicentennial Park and other civic gardens. In 2019–2020 the club raised $18,000 to replace trees in the village, reflecting its active role in community beautification. It also holds garden therapy projects and educational garden trips for members.

Bronxville Giving Garden
The Bronxville Giving Garden is a community-centered garden that donates organic produce to Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe and Community Service Associates in Mount Vernon. The garden is also a gathering place where school children and volunteers can discover the joy of tending plants and growing food.

Bronxville Green Committee
The Bronxville Green Committee is a volunteer organization that is part of the Village of Bronxville. It proposes and implements environmentally sustainable programs in our community.

Bronxville Boy Scouts
The village of Bronxville has a long tradition of scouting. “The troops and packs of Bronxville have maintained the finest scouting organizations and have taught the boys of the Bronxville area to be leaders and outstanding members of the local, national and global communities.”
