Letter to the Community in Support of Bob Underhill and Bill Fredericks in March 18 Election

To My Fellow Residents,

Next week I have the enviable opportunity to run unopposed for reelection for Mayor for which I am truly humbled.

My partner in all Village endeavors, Deputy Mayor Bob Underhill, is vying for a contested Trustee seat.

A 32-year resident of the Village, Bob has multigenerational roots in Bronxville through both his parents with his great great-grandfather founding our Village.

The Deputy Mayor has been my indispensable partner and wingman, as he has exhibited sustained passion for the Village and its governance, reasoned judgment, fairness and impeccable ethics.

Bob in short is a profoundly good man. He has vision and experience packaged into an incredibly humble gentleman. His respect for all individuals has made him a gifted and compelling leader. I cannot imagine doing my job without his wise counsel. Understanding and appreciating that our Village citizenry judges people by their skill set and their merit as well as their character, the following is just a snapshot of Bob’s volunteer efforts on behalf of Bronxville:

-Lead negotiator of the purchase of the Avalon parking lot.

-Point person on the negotiation and planning of what it is now Villa BXV.

-Led the effort for camera installation throughout the Village and body cameras for our police officers.

-Chairperson of the Village’s Community Relations Committee, a state mandated review board that engaged 26 Village stakeholders in a multi month in-depth review of our department’s governance, training and reporting protocols.

-My indispensable partner in thwarting Governor Hochul’s “Housing Compact” which could have resulted in an over 10,000 additional housing units as of right in our Village which currently has 2650 residences.

Bob has always viewed his job as a steward representing all the citizens of Bronxville and is apolitical in the best sense of the word and the best colleague one could have.

We are a team and I respectfully ask that you let us finish some incredible projects for our beloved Village.

I urge you to vote for Deputy Mayor Bob Underhill on March 18, being his résumé of committed service is truly unparalleled.

In the spirit of merit and service and love of community, I will also be casting my second vote for Trustee Bill Fredericks. He and Bob come from the same mold as a totally committed colleague, one of the hardest workers I know and committed to his lifelong hometown of Bronxville.

With respect,

Mary Marvin
