Starting November 1st: Pumpkin Composting at Village Hall!
Don't trash your Halloween pumpkins -- there's still a lot of good in them! Instead, drop them off for commercial composting at Bronxville's Food Scrap Recycling drop off site on Palumbo Place, behind Village Hall. Please make sure they are free of paint, glitter, stickers or candles.
 
This is a great way to remove food from our waste stream and transform it into vital compost while reducing pollution and costs associated with incineration. Interested in making a difference all year long? Nov. 2, 2024: Concordia Conservatory will present its opening show of the 2024-25 UNIQUE Series season, “Time” for Music at three locations: The Reformed Church of Bronxville at 10 am (180 Pondfield Rd), Concordia Conservatory Stamford at 1 pm (884 Newfield Ave) and at the New Canaan Public Library at 3pm (151 Main St). UNIQUE concert tickets are $6 for children/seniors and $12 for adults. This musical show encapsulates a musical time machine as we explore the unique qualities of rhythm, beat, and tempo.
 
Nov. 2, 2024, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM: The Reformed Church of Bronxville Clothing & Tag Sale. The sale consists of a wide selection of gently used clothing for all ages, including an expanded Designer Boutique and an assortment of fashion accessories, costume jewelry and shoes. There are also a variety of Home items - linens, decor, housewares, art work and Knick-Knacks, plus plenty of toys, puzzles & games. It's not too early to purchase Holiday Decorations in our curated shop! All proceeds support the outreach ministries of the church. Entrance at the corner of Midland & Kraft Avenues. Nov. 4, 2024, 7pm: Lynda Loigman and Samantha Woodruff in Conversation at Womrath Bookshop. Lynda Loigman, author of The Love Elixir of Augusta Stern, and Samantha Woodruff, author of The Trade Off, as they discuss their latest novels. Both novels transport readers to a place where strong, ambitious women navigate male-dominated fields in an era of rapid change. Following their discussion, there will be an audience Q&A and book signing. Nov. 7, 2024, 7:00PM - 8:30PM: Bronxville Rotary World Polio Day Event. Mike McGovern, Chair of Rotary International Polio Plus Committee, will speak at the Bronxville Library Yeager auditorium. Rotary International embarked on a mission to rid the world of polio, an infectious disease that at its peak killed or paralyzed hundreds of thousands of people. In 2022 Rotary International contributed $86 million to close critical protection gaps. Mike leads volunteer efforts of Rotary worldwide to conquer polio. A Rotarian since 1986 as a member of the Rotary Club of South Portland-Cape Elizabeth, Maine, Mike has served in many Rotary positions, including as global vice president and trustee of the Rotary Foundation. The event is free and all are welcome.
 
Nov. 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 17, 2024: Actors Conservatory Theatre will present "A Bronx Tale The Musical." A Bronx Tale is based on the critically acclaimed play that inspired the now classic film.  This streetwise musical (Doo Wop style!) will take you to the stoops of the Bronx in the 1960s - where a young man is caught between the father he loves and the mob boss he'd love to be. A Bronx Tale is a story about respect, loyalty, love, and above all else: family. Nov. 9, 2024, 7PM: Concordia Conservatory presents "The Hoch Chamber Music Series" Emerson Legacy Calidore String Quartet. The concert will take place at the Reformed Church Bronxville, 180 Pondfield Road in Bronxville. Purchase tickets at 914-395-4507. Concordiaconservatory.org.

Nov. 10, 2024, 2:30PM: All Souls & Veterans Day Organ Music in Memoriam at Church of St. Joseph, Bronxville. Music Director David Tisbert organist will perform music dedicated in memory of the deceased of the Parish and Veterans Day. With the St Joseph Choir Veterans Salute! Works by Bach, Duruflé, Buck and more.

Nov. 15, 2024, 6:00PM: Cross County Center Christmas Tree Lighting. Enjoy festive performances, plus there will be an electric train ride, strolling entertainers including Mrs. Claus and stilt walkers, food trucks, a DJ, and selfie spots. The pop-up holiday ice skating rink will also be open!  The pop-up ice rink is not real ice, but a synthetic material that is easy to glide on and perfect for first-time or young skaters. Admission is $12 per person, for a one-hour session. Skates are included. Must be 5 years or 42 inches to skate.  The festivities begin at 6pm and we will light the tree at 7:30pm.
 
Nov. 16, 10AM - 1PM.: TAKE BACK DAY returns to Village Hall in Bronxville.  This is your chance to donate items for reuse or recycling, including sensitive papers for shredding, electronics, clothing and accessories, and bedding for animal shelters.  See the new bins for drop off of BOOKS at any time.  The paper shredder is located at the Elementary School and the other drop-offs are behind Village Hall on Palumbo Place. 
 
Nov. 16, 2 PM: Storytime with the Author of Emily Snook, The World's Smallest Cook at Womrath Bookshop.  You will meet the talented children's book author Laura Bower as she reads her latest picture book, Emily Snook: The World's Smallest Cook. There will be fun and interactive event where children can ask Laura questions and even make a treat to take home! Bronxville Overview

Bronxville is a quaint village (one square mile) located just 16 miles north of midtown Manhattan (roughly 30 minutes on the train) and has a population of approximately 6,500. It is known as a premier community with an excellent public school (K-12) and easy access to Manhattan. Bronxville offers many amenities including an attractive business district, a hospital (Lawrence Hospital), public paddle and tennis courts, fine dining at local restaurants, two private country clubs and a community library.

While the earliest settlers of Bronxville date back to the first half of the 18th century, the history of the modern suburb of Bronxville began in 1890 when William Van Duzer Lawrence purchased a farm and commissioned the architect, William A. Bates, to design a planned community of houses for well-known artists and professionals that became a thriving art colony. This community, now called Lawrence Park, is listed on the National register of Historic Places and many of the homes still have artists’ studios. A neighborhood association within Lawrence Park called “The Hilltop Association” keeps this heritage alive with art shows and other events for neighbors.

Bronxville offers many charming neighborhoods as well as a variety of living options for residents including single family homes, town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. One of the chief benefits of living in “the village” is that your children can attend the Bronxville School.

The Bronxville postal zone (10708, known as “Bronxville PO”) includes the village of Bronxville as well as the Chester Heights section of Eastchester, parts of Tuckahoe and the Lawrence Park West, Cedar Knolls, Armour Villa and Longvale sections of Yonkers. Many of these areas have their own distinct character. For instance, the Armour Villa section has many historic homes and even has its own newsletter called “The Villa Voice” which reports on neighborhood news.
