Sunday, July 16, 5:36 pm, Summit Avenue: An 87-year-old resident reported that an unknown person had called her residence and pretended to be her grandson and said that he had been arrested and needed money to make the charges go away. The victim insisted on talking to her grandson and was able to determine that it was a fake caller by asking personal questions only her grandson would know and foiled their plan. The incident is being investigated.

Wednesday, July 19, 1:10 am, Kraft Avenue: A caller reported having observed a suspicious male throw a book bag in the bushes and leave the area. Officers were unable to locate the bag or the subject.

Wednesday, July 19, 10:21 am, Concordia College: The director of security reported that seven laptops had been delivered to the college and picked up by an unknown male. The male provided the college with fraudulent credentials to take possession of the laptops. It was later determined that the college had not ordered any laptops. Detectives are working to identify the origin of the purchase.

Wednesday, July 19, 3:48 pm, Lawrence Hospital: A male caller reported that he was having a dispute with hospital staff over the "lack of care" that his daughter was receiving. Two security officers were interviewed and were unaware of any dispute. Officers were unable to locate the caller.

Thursday, July 20, 11:02 am, BP Gas Station, Palmer Avenue: The general manager reported that an unknown male had entered the facility and stolen a set of floor mats and a gas can at approximately 4:45 am. The incident is being investigated.

Friday, July 21, 3:52 pm, Capital One Bank, Parkway Road: A bank employee reported a suspicious person who had just attempted to access an account without sufficient identification. Officers located the individual on Paxton Avenue. A subsequent inquiry to confirm the subject's identification revealed that the 21-year-old male from the Bronx had an active arrest warrant issued by the City of White Plains for assault in the third degree. City of White Plains police officers responded to Bronxville headquarters and took the man into their custody to face the assault charges. No crime was committed within the Village of Bronxville.

Friday, July 21, 5:12 pm, Pondfield Road: There was a two-vehicle accident; one driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. A motor vehicle accident report was completed.

Friday, July 21, 9:20 pm, Kensington Road:  A caller reported that an unknown male was attempting to open the front door of an apartment building. Upon being confronted, the male fled the area on foot in an unknown direction. Officers canvassed the area and were unable to locate the male.

Saturday, July 22, 3:24 am, Midland Avenue at Hemlock Road: A 25-year-old from Yonkers was charged with DWI (class A misdemeanor) after Officer Jarosz observed steady red light violation, and when she signaled for the driver to pull over, he brought the vehicle to a stop in the hedges in the center median. The driver refused to submit to a pre-screen test on the scene but later registered a blood alcohol content of .20%, which is more than double the legal limit of .08%. The driver was also cited for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration certificate. At 7:43 am, the driver was released on $200 bail and ordered to appear in the Bronxville Justice Court on August 16, 2017, at 6:00 pm.

Monday, July 24, 8:40 am: With the assistance of Dobbs Ferry detectives, Detective Sergeant Richard Anderson and Lieutenant Richard Bunyan of the Bronxville Police Department effected the arrest of a 34-year-old man from the Bronx. The arrest stemmed from a July 11, 2017, incident in which the man had distracted a 65-year-old female victim in order to steal her purse inside the Church of Saint Joseph in Bronxville. Bronxville detectives utilized village surveillance cameras, church surveillance cameras, and City of Yonkers parking data and received assistance from the National Insurance Crime Bureau and the Westchester County Intelligence Center to develop leads in the case and ultimately locate and identify the man in the Bronx on July 21. He was charged with Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (class E felony) and was remanded to the Westchester County Department of Corrections pending his next court appearance. Dobbs Ferry police have also filed charges against him regarding a similar incident that occurred in May of 2017. Bronxville detectives have received numerous inquiries and are continuing to work closely with other surrounding departments regarding similar incidents.
