Sep. 24, 2014: The One Love Foundation has announced the appointment of Katie Hood as CEO.
A Bronxville resident, Ms. Hood is the former CEO of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research and senior fellow and visiting lecturer with the Hart Leadership Program at Duke University's Sanford School of Public Policy. A graduate of Duke University and Harvard Business School, Hood has been recognized as one of Crain's New York Business "40 Under 40" up-and-coming business leaders.
The One Love Foundation honors the memory of Yeardley Reynolds Love, a beloved and inspirational leader on the University of Virginia's lacrosse team who was beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend in 2010.
Love is also the cousin of local resident and Bronxville girls' lacrosse coach Sharon Robinson, who is vice chair of the One Love Foundation.
As Hood explained, "Our goal is simple: To end relationship violence. To achieve this, we will reach young people where they are with compelling digital and technology-based tools that educate, empower, and activate them to stand against relationship violence."
Hood and the Foundation are launching a bold new agenda to reduce relationship violence. This includes a powerful award-winning public service announcement that aired on CNN last week about the signs of relationship violence--"See It. Share It. Shatter the Silence."

The Foundation is also launching the educational film Escalation. You are invited to the screening of this film at the Bronxville theater on October 1 at 7:00 pm. It is a compelling film that will also be rolled out on college campuses including Boston University, Jacksonville University, Michigan State University, and Wake Forest University, with plans of broader distribution nationwide.

Bronxville Public Library
The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.
The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.
The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children. All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
