By Blaine Malefatto, Syntax

Jan. 30, 2025: Nine talented students from Bronxville Middle School and Bronxville High School have been selected to perform with the National Conference Choirs at the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE) National Conference, taking place March 5-9 in Chicago. This prestigious honor highlights the students’ exceptional musical talent.

“We are delighted to send a record number of singers to the National Honors Choir,” said Hannah Geiling, middle and high school choral director. “These students have demonstrated their dedication to music in and outside of the chorus classroom. We are so proud to have them represent our school on a national level.”

Congratulations to the following singers:

-Grayson Curran, junior, Chamber Choir.

-Caris Erman-Thurmond, eighth grader, Treble Choir.

-Katie Fezza, junior, Chamber Choir.

-Peyton Gallo, junior, Chamber Choir.

-Charlotte Haller, sophomore, Chamber Choir.

-Isabel Haller, senior, Chamber Choir.

-Peyton Levine, junior, Chamber Choir.

-Zoe Reid, eighth grader, Treble Choir.

-Diana Sullivan, seventh grader, Treble Choir.

The rigorous audition process required the students to submit vocal recordings, including transposing, sight reading, vocalises and an a cappella solo, demonstrating their musicianship and vocal technique.

The OAKE National Conference brings together well-known educators and conductors over the course of four days and culminates with a performance by the students who had been selected to participate. OAKE, which was founded in 1975 as a meeting place for music educators, aims to support music education and promote universal music literacy and lifelong music making.
