Jan. 20, 2016: There was a fourteen-car pileup on Sunday night, January 17, on the Bronx River Parkway that caused both southbound lanes between Scarsdale Road and Desmond Avenue (near the Bronxville exit) to be closed, according to a January 18 article in the Journal News.
The article explained that the pileup was actually four separate accidents that occurred close together just before 9:00 pm because of icy road conditions.
The article went on to say that there were about ten injuries, although the number could not be confirmed, and that a spokesman for the county police said that none of the injuries was serious. Some of the injured were taken from the scene by ambulance.
Bronxville Chief Christopher Satriale reported that as of noon on Tuesday the entrance to the Bronx River Parkway southbound at Palmer was still closed.
