Letter to the Editor: Betsy Harding on Recent Village Campaign

To the Editor:
Mar. 28, 2018: I wish to congratulate Bill Primps on his election to the position of Bronxville village justice.
I also wish to congratulate Natasha Nordahl on her hard work and dedication to the village. Ms. Nordahl conducted an irreproachable campaign for village justice. She refused to accept any campaign donations. She also committed to not spending more than $1,000 on her campaign and, in fact, spent considerably less.
On election night, the Bronxville Republican Committee chair sent out an email claiming:
“Bill Primps is being severely challenged by Indivisible Westchester, who [sic] has reportedly poured thousands into what was supposed to be a village race.”
This is completely false. The email concludes by asking for donations, “large or small,” to “Bill Primps for village justice.”
More than an effort to herd last-minute voters to the polls, this email attempts to solicit campaign contributions using false and misleading non-information. While Mr. Primps may not have known that this was being done on his behalf, it is regrettable that his term as village justice is starting in these circumstances.
