Bronxville Class of '93 Celebrates 20th Reunion Coming from Far and Wide

Oct. 16, 2013: "Take On Me" by A-ha played in the background as members of the Bronxville High School Class of 1993 chatted with one another and examined photos from their high school and middle school years.
Old nicknames were revived, classmates thumbed through yearbooks from their days at Bronxville, and a toast was given to class president Anna Pilzer, "our fearless ringleader," who organized the events of the weekend.
One alum, Nick Staff, acknowledged that even though he had only attended Bronxville for two years, the group "feels like his extended family." Attendees came from as far away as Australia (Billy Becket) and from as nearby as . . . Bronxville (Chris Mestl).
A photo of Wendy Ruhm, a classmate who succumbed to a brain tumor, and one of Rick Muse, who died suddenly several years ago, were also displayed in the room.
The weekend started off with drinks on Friday night at Pete's Tavern in Bronxville and continued with a tour of the school on Saturday morning. Some members of the class brought young children to see where their parents had gone to school and several were pleased to see that, despite the changes that have enhanced the building, the classrooms and one of the libraries still looked familiar.
A subset of the class met up to picnic on the lawn behind the school after the tour and enjoyed the temperate weather while catching up on what was currently going on in their lives.
Finally, the Siwanoy event included the largest number of members of the class, whose spouses and friends who were easily absorbed into the convivial gathering. Brooklyn, the Washington, DC, area, Manhattan, and New Jersey were all well represented, and classmates who reside in Colorado and California also flew in for the weekend.
As for current occupations, two members of the class currently work on projects connected to AIDS research: the analysis of statistics and grant-making to fight the disease. Other career paths include medicine, the arts, law, concert and event production, finance, and technology.
A migration to Pete's Tavern concluded the evening, and as the night turned into the early morning, classmates said goodbye to one another "for now," with some mentioning that they were already looking forward to the 25th!
