Bronxville School Foundation Begins Fall Fundraising Campaign

Oct. 30, 2013: The Bronxville School Foundation has begun its fall fundraising campaign for the 2013-2014 year.
Founded in 1991 by a group of dedicated citizens, the foundation raises funds to provide students with educational experiences beyond the scope of a public school budget.
"Thanks to the Bronxville community's commitment to excellence in education and the generosity of our donors, the foundation is able to connect students and faculty with innovative programs, curriculum enrichment, and new technologies," stated Christine Fitzgibbons, chairman of the board.
Last year, the foundation awarded grants totaling $693,000, including a partnership with Long Island University for student internships in the elementary school, teacher training and materials to support the introduction of the Singapore Math curriculum, and the installation of environmentally friendly water-bottle filling stations.
The foundation also approved additional funding to support the construction costs of a new concession building with bathrooms and the installation of a press box and additional bleachers at the Bronco track and turf field.
Since its inception, the foundation has awarded $6.4 million to strengthen the curriculum through innovative programs, faculty training, and enhanced educational resources and to provide new technologies and improvements to our school facilities and equipment.
The foundation relies almost exclusively on its fall campaign for grant money. "School families and community members along with corporate matching sponsors are the key to our success. This year, we hope to reach 100% participation from school families," said Suzanne McCann, vice president of development.
Beginning with its 2013 fall campaign and ending with its 2014 spring grant process, the foundation will be building on its tradition of excellence and reviewing grants from administrators, faculty, and students that support innovative ideas, pilot new programs, and provide state-of-the-art technology.
"It is this community's tradition of generosity and commitment to quality education that allows us to connect with each student and make a meaningful difference," said the foundation's executive director, Peggy Williams.
