The Bronxville School Welcomes New Teachers for 2017-2018 Academic Year

Sep. 13, 2017: The Bronxville School welcomed not only students last week for the first day of the 2017-2018 academic year but also several new faculty members.
Joining the elementary school are Caroleann Del Juidice, education technology specialist; grade 2 teacher Laura Matthews; and grade 3 teachers Claire Hollocou and Meghan Hand.
Caroleann Del Juidice comes to Bronxville from the New York City Department of Education, where she taught technology and computer science at PS 48 P.O. Michael J. Buczek School. A graduate of Manhattan College, Del Juidice earned an MS in education from Lehman College and a certificate in creative computing K-12 from Harvard University.
Grade 2 teacher Laura Matthews gained teaching experience in the Yonkers Public Schools and in Hawthorne, New York. She served as a case manager for special education students and provided targeted English language arts and mathematics for at-risk students in grades 1 through 6. Matthews holds a BA in psychology from Concordia College in Bronxville and a dual master's degree in early childhood and special education from the College of New Rochelle.
A graduate of Tufts University, where she earned a BS in cognitive and brain science, grade 3 teacher Claire Hollocou earned a master's degree in general and special education from Hunter College in New York City. She comes to Bronxville from PS 154 Jonathan D. Hyatt in the city, where she planned and implemented curricula in math, research and information, and literature and art.
Meghan Hand, grade 3 teacher, graduated from SUNY College at Oneonta, where she earned a BS with honors in childhood education with a concentration in mathematics. She received an MS in education literacy from St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, New York. Hand gained experience using the Teachers College Reader's and Writer's Workshop curriculum at P.S. 180 Hugo Newman Preparatory School in New York City.
Instructional technology teacher Kimberly Persaud and social studies teacher Eva-Marie Gambino are joining the middle school this year.
Kimberly Persaud has taught at The Bronxville School, where she coached over 100 students in coding programs to create interactive multiplayer games, digital stories, and musical performances. A graduate of Pace University, where she earned a BA in mathematics and an MSEd in educational technology specialist, Persaud has designed opportunities for students to engage in project-based learning.
Eva-Marie Gambino comes to Bronxville from Northside Charter High School in Brooklyn, where her students consistently achieved a 90 percent pass rate on the U.S. History Regents exam. She holds a BA in political science and an MS in social studies education from Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.
Bronxville High School welcomes Fred Yannantuono to the English faculty and Jiyoon Kim to the science department.
Fred Yannantuono earned a BA in English from Georgetown University and a master's degree in adolescent English education from Hunter College. He most recently taught at Byram Hills High School in Armonk, where he designed original curricula for comedy and detective fiction electives. He also built original units of study for struggling students and provided enrichment for student exploration.
Jiyoon Kim joins the chemistry and biology faculty. She gained her student teaching experience at The Bronxville School, where she taught core biology and created student materials to fit the school's overarching core science curriculum. Kim received a BS in biomedical engineering from Columbia University and an MA in secondary science education in biology from Teachers College, Columbia University.
