The Picture House Bronxville Celebrates 100 Years with 25-Cent Movies: Celebration Kicks off September 12th

Sept. 9, 2026: The Picture House Regional Film Center will celebrate the 100th anniversary of its historic Bronxville theater with a special day of 25-cent movie tickets — the price of admission when the theater first opened its doors in 1926. Throughout the day, moviegoers are invited to enjoy films on the big screen for just a quarter and pick up a commemorative Centennial poster celebrating a century of movies, memories, and community in Bronxville.

The celebration marks the beginning of The Picture House Bronxville’s Centennial year, with special screenings, programs, events, and other festivities planned throughout the year. Additional Centennial programming will be announced at Party on Kraft on September 26.

All movie tickets are 25 cents throughout the day and evening and must be purchased in person at the box office.

The Bronxville Public Library traces its origins back to 1875, when it was a small lending library housed in a room attached to the “Bronxville Model School.” The Library was officially chartered in 1906 and moved into the Village Hall Building. The needs of the library grew with the town and, in 1942, a new standalone building was erected, which is where the Library is today. Over the years, the Library was renovated and expanded to meet the needs of the community.

The Library has wonderful resources for adults and children and offers a comfortable and relaxing environment. The Library also houses a fine art collection, consisting principally of Bronxville painters and sculptors.

The Library offers special events, art exhibitions, and programs for adults, young adults and children.  All events are open to the public, unless otherwise indicated.
