Friends of Bronxville Baseball to Hold 2nd Annual Fundraiser Saturday, May 3
Apr. 30, 2014: The Friends of Bronxville Baseball will hold its second annual fundraiser to benefit the baseball program in The Bronxville School.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at The Quarry Restaurant, 106 Main Street, Tuckahoe. The event will feature a silent auction and cash bar. Funds raised will be used to maintain and improve Lower Scout Field, the home field of the Bronxville modified, junior varsity, and varsity baseball teams, and to benefit the Bronxville School baseball program.
The fundraiser will cap off Bronxville High School Fan Appreciation Day, an exciting day of events to be held at Lower Scout Field in Bronxville and Mount Vernon beginning with an alumni/old timer softball game at 1:00 pm and followed by a dedication ceremony at 2:30 pm and a varsity baseball game between Eastchester and Bronxville at 3:00 pm.
The dedication ceremony will feature Eastchester Town Supervisor Anthony Colavita, Bronxville Mayor Mary Marvin, and others who have been instrumental in the improvements at Lower Scout Field.
Over the past year, Lower Scout Field has been transformed into one of the highest-quality baseball fields in Westchester County. Improvements include a field upgrading, dugouts, fencing, a scoreboard, bullpens, and batting cages. The project to improve and upgrade Lower Scout Field was made possible by a public/private partnership of the county, town, village, school district, and private citizens that raised over $150,000 of charitable contributions, in-kind contributions, and public funds.
The public/private partnership has truly transformed Lower Scout Field and paired the efforts of parents, area residents, companies, and the public sector to create a real difference for young men and women by upgrading existing athletic facilities.
The Friends of Bronxville Baseball is a committee of parents and residents who came together with a common goal of providing the best possible opportunity for students to play baseball. It hopes to help attract new players and maintain the recent upgrades at Lower Scout Field to improve playability now as well as into the future.
