Jun. 4, 2014:  Section 1 golfers won the New York State Championship on June 2, with help from Bronxville sophomores Matt Bettino and Connor Daly. Bettino had an impressive seventh-place finish with a final two-day score of 149. In round one, Bettino struggled in the first nine holes, scoring nine over par, but he regrouped in the back nine, finishing the day with a 79 on the par 71 course. Bettino had a much better second day, finishing one under par with an eagle and four birdies. Daly shot a 77 on the first day, including three birdies, and an 80 in round two to tie for 21st place overall. The Section 1 team was losing to Section V after the first round of play but came together on day two to capture the state title. The championships, which were held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Cornell University, included 99 high school golfers from across the state.

Bronxville track and field athletes will head to the New York State Championships Friday and Saturday at Cicero North High School in Syracuse. Thirteen Bronxville girls qualified for the state championships with eight first-place finishes and four second-place finishes. For the second year in a row, all three of the Bronxville girls' relay teams will be headed to the state championships. It is not unusual for Bronxville to send a 4x800m team, but the 4x100m relay team has been a very competitive force recently, in part due to new coaching. Last year, the team added assistant coach Keina Samuels for short distances. Coach Samuels, a special education teacher at Bronxville, ran short distance competitively in Jamaica and at Florida International University.

The boys' team will be sending two individuals and the 4x400m relay team to the state championship. See below for a list of state qualifiers and state qualifying times.
