Pet of the Week: Cougar

By Allison Roesser
Jan. 20, 2016: Don't let his name fool you. Cougar is one big, giant teddy bear. He loves to hug and cuddle, all 13+ pounds of him.
A total dog in cat's clothing, Cougar loves to play. He throws his toys around and jumps up and down like a puppy. Found along a busy street hiding among the shrubs, he was incredibly sweet and already neutered when first rescued, which most likely means he was once someone's pet.
Cougar loves to play with other cats. However, because he is so big, many of the other kitties in the foster home are actually afraid of him. All he wants to do is make friends and doesn't seem to understand why they stay away. Ironically, there is a one-year-old orange-and-white tabby girl half his size who doesn't let him get away with anything. She entertains everyone by smacking him into submission.
Cougar loves attention and anxiously awaits his daily hugs. He will eagerly climb into your lap and mush his face into yours to make sure you know how much he cares. And for added measure, he will coo like a dove at your touch, making you feel extra special.
This healthy and athletic fellow is guessed to be two to three years old. He has tested negative for feline leukemia and FIV and is current on his vaccines. The adoption fee for Cougar is $85. For more information, please contact tlc Rescue via email at
If you are looking for a pair and some added fun in your home, feel free to inquire about his girlfriend, Marmalade, as well.
